On Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23, MLC Farm at By the Hounds will be hosting its fifth annual Charity Horse Show to benefit The Anita Memorial Fund Equine Rescue 501 (c)3. This year the format has changed. On Saturday, a Hunter Derby will take the place of the hunter and equitation show and Sunday will remain the same with the Jumpers. Over $2000 in prize money will be offered. Come and join us Friday, September 21 to kick of our two day horse show with a fundraiser and cocktail party from 6:00pm – 9:00pm under the tent at By the Hounds in Millbrook, NY. The party will honor our sponsors and to give thanks to all of our supporters. A silent auction and raffle will begin and will continue throughout Sunday. If you would like to attend this event, please call MLC Farm at (845)677-5232.

Equine Rescue Inc (ERI) has served the horse population of the Hudson Valley region since 1996, helping hundreds of abandoned, starved horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. Equine Rescue is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to rescue and provide care, rehabilitation and adoption services for abused and neglected horses. ERI receives no state or federal funding and raises all of its operating expenses from private donations.
The Anita Memorial Fund (TAMF) was set up to provide emergency funding for abused and neglected horses rescued by the Equine Rescue Incorporated (ERI) of the Hudson Valley. The fund was named in honor of Anita, a wonderful horsewoman who died after a courageous battle with cancer. Several of Anita’s friends wanted to keep her memory alive, so TAMF was formed. This emergency fund is to be used by the Equine Rescue, strictly for daily care necessities (grain, hay, vet, blacksmith, medicines, and supplements) for neglected horses.
In the past five years, over 150 local Hudson Valley businesses and private contributions have helped the MLC Farm Charity Horse Show to raise over $30,000 in donations to the Equine Rescue.. These generous donations have helped the Equine Rescue to rescue and rehabilitate more abused, starving horses and ponies. Without the intervention of the Equine Rescue, these animals most likely would not have survived. Equine Rescue has given these animals a chance to heal, to rehabilitate and to learn a new way of life.
The Anita Memorial Fund has made a difference and I am asking all of our local barns and businesses, who supported us over the last several years and our new businesses and supporters this year to continue to help us. Please support the TAMF –Equine Rescue by donating to the horse show, giving to the raffle/silent auction, providing a supply to help the horses or by attending the horse show. Every cent matters and every dollar will be used. This year I am asking all of you to reach into your pockets and give whatever you can. Currently, ERI is housing over 33 horses and receiving calls daily. They need our help!! Please be someone who helps us make a difference.
On behalf of The Anita Memorial Fund – Equine Rescue, the abused, abandoned and starving horses that have been helped and rescued, I thank you for making a difference.
Sincerely,
Michelle Clopp
