August 2015
Dear Fellow Horseman:
Each year hundreds of abandoned and starved horses, ponies, donkeys and mules in Dutchess County await our help. We need to save these animals!
Join us on September 18,19 and 20, 2015 as MLC Farm and Equine Rescue Inc. (ERI) reunite to sponsor the 8th Annual Charity Horse Show. To date the Charity Horse Show has raised over $50,000 in support of these important efforts.
Equine Rescue Inc. (ERI) 501 C (3) has served the horse population of the Hudson Valley since 1996, helping horses, ponies, donkeys and mules who are in desperate situations. ERI is a not for profit organization whose mission is to rescue and provide care, rehabilitation and adoption services for abused and neglected horses. ERI receives no state or federal funding and raises all of its operating budget from private donations.
This year we made a few changes to the 2015 show schedule by adding a third day of competition. Friday, September 18 we will offer a pleasure division with lots of great prizes and fun classes. Casual attire. Followed by two clear round courses.
Saturday, September 19 kicks off the weekend competition with three $500 Hunter Derbys. Derby Heights will be at the 2’0,2’6 and 3’0. Thank you to the Millbrook Hunt for sponsoring the 2’6 Hunter Derby in memory of Billy Leitch and the DC PHA for donating the trophy.
On Sunday, the pre short stirrup and short stirrup classes start us off for our beginner and young competitors. Full jumper divisions will follow. Each height division, except the cross rail, ends with a $500 Classic which offers prize money through sixth place.
We invite you to sponsor a Jump, a Classic, or a Full Division or make a donation to show your support for our community and help these troubled animals. As a sponsor your business or your name will be seen favorably by many in our community. Equally important, you will be assisting animals who need our help.
A silent auction opens with the Show on Saturday and continues until the end of the last Jumper Classic on Sunday. Promote your business by donating services or items. All proceeds from the silent auction go directly to provide care for the neglected animals housed at ERI. Join us Saturday night for a cocktail party from 6pm – 8pm and see all the great items in the Silent auction. All proceeds of the Silent Auction go directly to ERI.
With your support, ERI will continue to rescue and rehabilitate abused and abandoned horses and ponies. Please make a difference in these mistreated horses’ lives. I hope we can count on you.
Sincerely,
Michelle Clopp
